While preparing the Special Edition of Brunilda for RetroMadrid, we thought it would be cool to improve that version over the already published one.

Metalbrain got to work and, as only he knows, optimized the screen drawing routines to the limit, making the scroll way smoother everywhere in the game.

On the other hand, Wyz took the game music and moved, touched, remixed and modified everything necessary to extract the best possible sound from his own player.

Two tiny bugs were also fixed: a colour changing mushroom and an out of place apparition by Brunilda.

And finally, a pair of english mistakes were fixed, and then AugustoRuiz reviewed the whole translation to make it sound more natural.

Today, a week after the party, we put this "remastered" version at everyone's disposition. You may download it from the game's card. Do it, it's really worth it.

After all the hard work during last weekend's RetroMadrid fair, we have finally found some time to update the online shop, where you can now buy copies of our latest productions presented at RetroMadrid, as well as the re-releases of Genesis: dawn of a new day and Teodoro can't fly, both for ZX Spectrum (BTW, look out for the Monument Microgames upcoming relase of Genesis: dawn of a new day!).

Also, due to the huge success of the wooden box edition of Los Amores de Brunilda, that prevented many of you from buying it, we are considering the possibility of preparing a new run. This would be a very short one (between 15 and 20 units), which will probably increase its price to 30 euro. If you are interested, please contact us at . It is still not sure that we will be able to make it, but in that case those of you who express interest will be on top of the list.

Thank you all for your support!

We would like to present a new and old game... well, we are not crazy, it is really just like that!

Around 1991, our friends Acme and Mikomedes wrote a game for the Spectrum which got lost in the sands of time, until, just a year ago, they recovered it and made it work.

As time passes by for everyone and everything, they also decided to create a new version, updating most of the aspects of the game by using the new tools for programming Spectrum games, and taking advantage of the 128K models. So that is how 2 new games in 1 were born here at Retroworks:

  • The Chard (MIA 1991)
  • The Charm (2014)

«Long time ago, where the sun softly raised above the leafy forests and the day just counted a few hours. In misty, shadowy lands. Our hero, who can now be mentioned as such, whose name was then strange, Sir Oup, hanged on a gate that gave entrace to King Chardy's castle. The king had requested his presence...»

If you want to know more about the story, go to the game card... Oh! And it will be available to buy in cassette format, with a really nice cardboard box, at Retromadrid 2014!

We're still impressed by the reception given to our "Brunilda" (thank you very much, guys!), and have been working to solve a couple of bugs found after game release.

The bugs fixed from the version originally published, are the following:

  • Tile corruption in caves (only present in TZX files, not the TAP ones).
  • A place at the village that allowed our companion to block our way.
  • Memory corruption when songs were unpacked.

And we also added a package with complete source code.

Grab it from game card!!!

As an early gift from Santa Claus, we want release our new game today: Brunilda.

A game for 128k Spectrum, which was conceived as interactive fiction for PC but was never ended, and in the end has become an adventure game for Spectrum with a huge map to explore, and a very different development from the original planning.

We hope you like it and enjoy playing as much as we have enjoyed programming it.

The history starts right after you got your memory back in your previous adventure. That scroll you found turned out to be a music score containging the beats of what seemed to be a brief melody. The dim light in the hall didn't let you see which melody was it; so you lighted up a candle and held it near the scroll.

Want to help our intrepid adventurous again?

This weekend I've finally started to update the web to change the game pages from handmade HTMLs to dinamically generated paged with PHP. The final result doesn't differ too much from the old cards, but it has the advantage that the platform and genre tabs at the left now act as filters for the games page. A bigger advantage is that now it's way easier to create new cards, so by simplifying this final step, it takes less time from game completion to its publication.

Here you can see an exclusive image of our secret intranet:

But I know this is totally irrelevant because it's the next entry that you're interested in...

As you can see, we have placed a donation button in the web header. With this, we want to give you the option to donate some euros to the team, if you wish so. This money will be used to pay for the common expenses (web hosting, creation of physical versions, etc), and some not so common ones (well, we also like to have some beers from time to time ).

Of course, this does not change our plans to offer all of our games for free download, and also physical versions when possible... We still think we will not become rich doing this

Here I present a project that I have on my hands: This is a remake of "Livingstone ... I presume."
For those who don't remember the original game, I must say that it's a great classic from Opera Soft, created in the golden age of Spanish software, back in 1986.
Actually, the project began at CEZ GS, a few months before its dissolution. The idea for the main character's graphic was by LordFred, who made the first animation, based on the old man that appears on the original cover of the game (Let's face it, LordFred is unable to draw a wrong pixel). I was very impressed with the idea, and I decided to continue the rest of animations and graphics using the same style. You can see the result in this screenshot of the game running:

And you can compare it with this screenshot of the Amstrad CPC version:

I want to imitate the same scenes from the original game, but increasing the detail level using 256-color graphics and 24 fps animations.

Regarding the current status of the project, although the code is quite advanced, the graphics are still at their early stage (I have only made a few graphics and enemies for the jungle and all the animations of the main character) but everything will come...

I must also say that the project is currently on hold because I am 100% dedicated to finish another thing that will take a few days (I can't say more), but when that's finished, I'll resume work on this one immediately. Soon you'll have more news.

Since the release of Gommy, medieval defender, some problems have been detected, and Pagantipaco has been working hard to fix them. So here we present you an update version so you can download and play it without fear of crashes or strange effects. What's new:

- A fire colliding with a shielded enemy won't crash the game.
- Fire thrower counters now work.
- Fires now burn the wall, and may open new ways for the enemies to go up.
- Water falls down, unaffected by obstacles that may deviate or break the rocks.

You can download the new version from the Game card

Special thanks to Gandulf, Jumping Stack and Shadow Maker for telling us about the problems.
